Alamosa Public Library and the Early Childhood Council of the SLV would like to invite all parents, teachers, and caregivers to come and check out the new story at the StoryWalk® along with their children. The Early Childhood Council took on the project for the new Fall story which is, Grumpy Bird by Jeremy Yankard. We also had help with frame painting and installation of the pages from Parents as Teachers and Early Headstart parents, and an Alamosa school board member. The StoryWalk starts on a path in front of City Hall and goes all the way around the builing and to the back by Cole Park.

StoryWalk® is one of those delightful ideas that combines three critical elements for overall family health: early literacy, family engagement,  and physical activity. Pages from a children’s book are mounted on posts around City Hall so you can walk along the path, read the story, and do the activity pages with your child. It’s an active, interactive, fun learning activity that will help build essential literacy skills. Take lots of photos and share them with us online using #AlamosaStoryWalk.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellog Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms.Ferguson.
