Positive Solutions for Families is an evidence-based, family-friendly workshop of 7
sessions to help professionals working with families [and Family Friend Neighbor Care Providers] to promote positive and effective parenting/care giving behaviors

The workshop materials provide information for families on how to:

✔ Promote children’s social and emotional skills
✔ Understand their child’s challenging behaviors
✔ Use positive approaches to help children learn appropriate

Families [FFN Providers] receive all the information and materials needed to be successful in implementing
evidence-based strategies to promote positive social and emotional development in the home. Overview of
Sessions:
● Make the Connection – Building connections with your child and using positive encouragement.
● Keeping it Positive – Learning how to use playful interactions to strengthen the caregiver-child
relationship; understanding the meaning of behavior, and how to use positively stated directions.
● Behavior has Meaning – Determining the meaning of children’s behavior, being a behavior
detective, and developing and teaching rules.
● The Power of Routines – Setting up successful routines and transitions and prevention strategies.
● Teach Me What to Do! – Teaching emotional vocabulary, anger, management, and problem-solving
skills.
● Responding with Purpose – Understanding how to respond to challenging behavior.
● Developing a Behavior Plan to Use During Daily Routines – Developing a behavior plan to use
during daily routines.
